I'm a 4th year PhD student in Computer Science. My research interests are machine learning and data mining. I've interned at Microsoft research and Google and found it no more interesting doing research in IT. I have a little bit background on Finance. I've taken courses including financial engineering, stochastic processes and other finance courses. I'm wondering how should I start my career as a quant researcher in major IBs? What knowledge should I prepare (say courses) before interviews? Any inputs are welcome. Thanks. |

Most of the Quant Eng masters students make a switch from a PhD level course of study/career outside of Finance into Quant Finance, such as yourself. There are two excellent sites out on the net for researching these topics. one is global-derivativesDOTcom, and the other quantitativefinancemastersDOTcom the first is a forum based area, the second is a tutorial if you will for grad school application to some of the good schools which host top ranking MSc Financial/Quantitative Finance/Eng programs. Good luck.
